New Superintendent - Ted Martinez

It has been over five months since the new superintendent of Rio Hondo College has taken the helm and so far so good. Mr. Martinez appears to be a person of integrity, fair, and concern for real issues facing our college and community. His first hand experience working with communities promises to responsive to local needs, especially the needs of working families and of people least likely to make it to Rio Hondo.

The election was very nuts and bolts requiring only a utilitarian strategy. Most strategies were calculated and measured. The feeling, I believe, comes with the seasoned candidate and strategist. Don't get me wrong, the importance of the election and every maneuvered was very significant. How ever, the prompted opponent did not seem to be wisely politically advised throughout the campaign. Each move was predictable or easily out flanked. Please don’t read this as arrogance but rather as observances from a political strategist who just happened to be a candidate.

In hindsight, my opposition created allot of hype with their negative message, campaigning and portrayals. Nonetheless, the damage was measurable and prevailed over.

I'm grateful to the people of Area 4, my district, for returning me to the Board at Rio Hondo College for another four years. The time will be spent advocating for the communities I represent, as always.
